CHOOSING
the RIGHT SIZE for your GOWN
"Why
do the designers cut dresses so small?
I always wear an 8
but I have to wear a size 14 bridal gown???"
Frustrating,
isn't it?
Please email us if you have any questions about
sizing.
Every designer cuts their dresses different, some are even generous
in their sizing.
Bust
Measurement
The
bust measurement does not mean your bra size.
Measured at the fullest part of the bust.
It is best done wearing the bra/corset you plan to wear with your gown.
Measure comfortably - not tight.
Waist
Measurement
This is a bit trickier as you may be short or
long waisted...
that plus the fact that dress styles can be high or long waisted.
It is best to measure your waist at the narrowest as this will be the
important area.
Always take a comfortable measurement, not tight.
Hips
Measurement
At the widest part of this hips...this is not
as important for gowns with full skirts.
Other Measurements
We can provide other measurements as needed...especially
for bridal gowns we have in stock.
You may be concerned about fullness in sleeves, neck, sleeve length.
We will do our best to provide measurements for special orders.ed
leaving you a tank style; straps can be added to a strapless dr
Tips
for Fit
Most
gowns do come with up to 2" to let out of side seams.
Some have a bit more, others have nothing.
In cases where you need more room, a seamstress can install gussets
under the arm. Remember, most of us need alterations for proper fit.
A good seamstress can work miracles...don't panic!
Few of us are the perfect proportions created by the designers. It is
always easier to take in than let out. If you have any doubt, purchase
the larger size.
If you lose weight, great BUT do not count on losing weight.
For
your fitting, you will need your shoes, under garments, crinoline if
you are wearing one. These all affect fit and length of the dress. Measurements
for our instock gowns are actual measurements of the dress.
Measurements for special order gowns are based on the standard size
chart and can vary +- 1/2 inch.
